Rucha Dilip Sarwade

My inquisitiveness into transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation of genes led the foundation of my doctoral research in Dr. Vasudevan Seshadri's Lab at National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS), Pune, India. To briefly summarize, my doctoral research was focused on translational regulation of insulin and its processing enzymes; prohormone convertase 1/3 and 2 (PC1/3 and PC2). It also entailed understanding the RNA binding potential of certain multifunctional proteins like protein disulphide isomerase/poly A binding protein (PDI/PABP) to co-ordinately regulate the translation of a repertoire of proteins involved in insulin synthesis and secretion in a glucose dependent manner. I moved to Australia after completion of my PhD research and now working as a post doctoral fellow in Dr. SureshKumar's lab at Monash University, Melbourne. Here, I would be involved in understanding the epigenetic regulation of an autosomal recessive neurodegenerative disease Friedreich’s Ataxia
