I hold a PhD in in bioinformatics and applied biostatistics, specialising in the development of tools and statistical methods for the analysis and integration of ‘omics data. My research focus are myeloid blood cancers, which are aggressive cancers with one of the poorest survival rates. My work concentrates on understanding epigenetic and transcriptomic mechanisms of hematopoietic stem cells transformation into myeloid blood cancers and factors leading to treatment resistance. To achieve this, our laboratory generates reliable mouse models of leukemia and uses bulk and single cell next generation sequencing of the transcriptome (RNASeq) and chromatin accessibility (ATACSeq, MethylSeq) in leukaemia stem cells and normal blood stem cells.
